Welcome to Both Parents Matter, the largest National Network of Support Groups with 50 years’ experience dedicated to advocating for children in the family court and supporting families through various challenges.
With over 20,000 calls to our helpline annually and supporting an additional 30,000 parents through our national network each year, we stand as a beacon of guidance and assistance for families navigating complex familial dynamics.
One of our key achievements was to ensure that unmarried fathers obtain parental responsibility, recognizing the importance of their role in their children’s lives. Through our advocacy efforts, other key achievements include changing the language surrounding familial relationships, transforming terms like “absent parent” to “non-resident parent” and “custody” to “contact arrangements,” among others. These linguistic shifts are not merely superficial; they reflect a fundamental shift in perspective towards acknowledging the equal importance of both parents in a child’s life.
At the heart of our work lies the belief that children benefit from the involvement of both parents, provided it is safe and in their best interests. This presumption, championed by Both Parents Matter, has paved the way for a more inclusive approach to parenting arrangements, one that prioritizes the well-being and emotional fulfilment of children.
By providing a platform for support, guidance, and advocacy, Both Parents Matter empowers families to navigate the complexities of separation, divorce, and co-parenting with resilience and dignity. We understand the challenges families face and are committed to providing the resources and assistance needed to overcome them.
Join us in our mission to promote parental equality and support families in creating nurturing environments where children can thrive. Together, we can build a future where every child has the love, care, and involvement of both parents, ensuring their holistic development and well-being.
