School Co-Parenting Policy

Both Parents Matter is proud to announce our successful collaboration with Michaela School in Brent to implement a dedicated co-parenting policy.

This new policy is designed to ensure that all parents, regardless of their residential status, have access to important information regarding their child’s progress and welfare.

Katharine Birbalsingh, Head of Michaela School, emphasized the importance of this initiative:

“Schools should adopt a separated parenting policy to ensure that every child’s welfare is placed at the heart of their academic journey. It isn’t just about education. Parents should be able to access information about their child’s progress at school, even if the child does not live full-time with them. A special thanks to Paul and Sam from ‘Both Parents Matter’ for shedding light on the struggles that non-resident parents have when attempting to access information from schools about their children. Hopefully, this encourages schools to take action. At Michaela, we did not have a separated parenting policy before we were introduced to ‘Both Parents Matter’. A separated parenting policy should be mandatory for all schools. Children need love and care from both parents where possible.”

At Both Parents Matter, we firmly believe that a separated parenting policy should be mandatory in all schools across the UK, and we will continue to campaign for this to become the standard nationwide. Ensuring that children have the support of both parents—whenever possible—is essential to their wellbeing, and we are committed to advocating for this change.
